Course Content

Commandments 1-4
In this segment Dr. Fritz Harms discusses the role and place of the Law of God in the Christian life and the Church's worship. Attention is given as to why the authors of the Heidelberg Catechism discuss the Ten Commandments in the final section of the catechism ('Gratitude'). Chaplain Harms explains that God commands his redeemed people to look and act like His Redeemed people both their obligation to God and neighbor.

Commandments 5-6
In this bible study Chaplain Harms examines the Heidelberg Catechism’s treatment of the ‘Lord’s Prayer’. Harms explains how the authors of the catechism placed the topic of the Lord’s Prayer together with the topic of the Ten Commandments in the final section of this teaching tool. Both obedience to the moral law of God as well as the spiritual practice of prayer express the believer’s thankfulness to God for his free and unmerited grace and acceptance.

Commandments 7-10
In this section Dr. Fritz Harms challenges us to think why a society governed by the principles of human conduct as outlined in the Ten Commandments might actually compare more favorable with the current secular model being implemented globally.
